What is a ISBN-13 + 5-digit price barcode?

This is the ISBN barcode with a small 5-digit barcode to its right, called the EAN-5 or price add-on. It is mostly used on books sold in the United States, where many retailers expect it. The main barcode identifies the book, and the add-on carries the suggested retail price.

The first digit of the add-on is the currency, for example 5 for US dollars, and the next four digits are the price. So 52250 means $22.50. If you don’t want to show a price, use 90000.

What data can ISBN-13 + 5-digit price hold?

Your ISBN-13 (or an ISBN-10 to convert), a space, then exactly 5 digits, for example 978-1-56581-231-4 52250. The ISBN check digit is added or verified for you.

Recommended size

The main barcode follows EAN-13 sizes (37.29 x 25.93 mm at 100%, scalable from 80% to 200%), and the add-on sits to its right at the same scale. Keep blank space to the right of the add-on.
