GS1 DataBar, once called RSS, is a family of compact GS1 barcodes. It fits a GTIN on items too small for an EAN or UPC, such as loose fruit and vegetables or small healthcare items. The Expanded types can also carry data like weight, price or expiry date for fresh food and coupons.
Choose DataBar Omnidirectional, or Stacked Omnidirectional for narrow items, when the code is scanned at checkout. Truncated, Stacked and Limited are smaller but meant for handheld scanners, not checkout scanners. Use Expanded or Expanded Stacked when you need extra data next to the GTIN.
