What is a Inventory / Asset Tag barcode?
Asset tags are barcode labels that give each item its own ID, such as laptops, furniture, tools or school equipment. Offices, IT teams, schools and workshops scan them to track what they own and where it is. This preset uses Code 128, which almost every scanner reads.
A good asset number is a short prefix plus a running number, like ASSET-000123. A number sequence creates a whole run of numbers in one go, and the label-sheet PDF lays them out ready to print. Code 128 has its own check character, so you don’t need to add one.
What data can Inventory / Asset Tag hold?
Any standard ASCII text: letters, digits, dashes and other common symbols. Keep it short; we warn you if a value is longer than 80 characters.
Recommended size
Keep a quiet zone of at least 10 times the narrowest bar on both sides. Small labels around 50 x 25 mm suit most equipment; use durable labels for items that are handled a lot.
