Healthcare barcodes identify medical devices and medicines so they can be tracked from maker to patient. This category covers HIBC codes for medical device labeling, Pharmacode for packaging lines, and national pharmacy codes such as Code 32 (Italy) and PZN (Germany). GS1 DataMatrix, also widely used in healthcare, is in the GS1 2D category.
For medical device UDI labels, use the system your issuing agency supports, such as HIBC or GS1. Pharmacode only holds a number that checks the right packaging is used on a production line; it does not identify a product for sale.
