What is a Rectangular Micro QR (rMQR) barcode?
Rectangular Micro QR Code (rMQR) is a rectangular member of the QR family, standardized as ISO/IEC 23941. It is wide and short, with heights from 7 to 17 modules and widths up to 139 modules, so it fits where a square code would be too tall.
Typical uses are cable and wire marking, test tubes, small electronic parts and the edges of packaging. It holds more data than Micro QR while staying low in height.
Not every scanner supports rMQR yet, especially older devices and phone camera apps. If you have room for a square code, a standard QR code or Data Matrix is more widely readable.
What data can Rectangular Micro QR (rMQR) hold?
Text, up to about 92 characters in the largest size. We show how much of the capacity you are using and warn you near the limit.
Recommended size
Leave a quiet zone of at least 2 modules around the code. Pick a symbol size whose height suits your label, and test-scan with your actual reader before printing in volume.

Frequently Asked Questions
rMQR stays very short in height, so it fits narrow strips such as cable markers or the side of a vial where a square QR code would not fit.
rMQR is newer than QR and Micro QR, so support varies. Check your scanner's supported symbologies or test a printed sample first.
No. Micro QR is a small square code with one finder pattern, while rMQR is rectangular and can hold more data.
