What is a Aztec Compact barcode?

Aztec Compact is the small form of Aztec Code (ISO/IEC 24778). It uses a smaller central bullseye and 1 to 4 data layers, so the symbol is between 15 by 15 and 27 by 27 modules. Like full Aztec, it needs no quiet zone around it.

It is best for short numbers, codes or IDs where a full-range Aztec Code would be larger than needed. For longer data, such as full ticket details, use standard Aztec Code, which adds more layers.

What data can Aztec Compact hold?

Short text or numbers, up to 89 characters depending on content. We warn you as you get close to the limit.

Recommended size

No quiet zone is required, but a small margin still helps scanning. Make the modules large enough for your print method and test on screen and paper if both are used.
