What is a Micro QR Code barcode?
Micro QR Code is a smaller version of the QR code defined in ISO/IEC 18004. It has only one finder pattern in the corner instead of three and needs a narrower quiet zone, so it fits on electronic components, circuit boards, small tools and tight label areas.
There are four versions, M1 to M4, from 11 x 11 to 17 x 17 modules. The largest holds up to 35 digits or about 21 letters and numbers, so it is meant for part numbers and short IDs, not long URLs.
Choose a standard QR code if people will scan it with a phone, because many phone camera apps don't read Micro QR. Choose Rectangular Micro QR (rMQR) if your space is long and narrow rather than square.
What data can Micro QR Code hold?
Short text or digits, up to about 21 characters (digits pack more densely). We warn you when you get close to the limit.
Recommended size
Micro QR needs a quiet zone of at least 2 modules on every side. Because the code is tiny, check that your printer or marking method can reproduce each module cleanly, and test-scan with the reader you will use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Some scanner apps can, but many built-in phone cameras cannot. Micro QR is mainly read by industrial and handheld scanners, so use a standard QR code for consumer-facing labels.
The largest version, M4, holds up to 35 digits or around 21 alphanumeric characters. If you need more, use a standard QR code or Data Matrix.
Micro QR is square and very small. rMQR is rectangular, holds more data and is designed for long, narrow spaces such as cables and tubes.
