What is a GS1 DataBar Stacked Omni barcode?

GS1 DataBar Stacked Omnidirectional puts a GTIN-14 in two tall rows with a separator between them. It is narrow enough for loose produce stickers and other small items, yet tall enough for omnidirectional scanning at the checkout.

Choose it when the item must scan quickly at a fixed point-of-sale scanner but a single-row DataBar Omnidirectional is too wide. If only handheld scanners are used and space is tighter, plain DataBar Stacked takes less height.

What data can GS1 DataBar Stacked Omni hold?

A 13-digit GTIN, optionally starting with (01). We add the check digit. If you type all 14 digits, we check that the last one is correct.

Recommended size

Keep it close to square and don't reduce the row height, because the extra height is what makes omnidirectional scanning work. Leave a clear margin around the sticker edge.

Frequently Asked Questions

It fits a full GTIN on a small sticker and still scans at the checkout from any angle, which suits loose produce.

Making the rows shorter gives you DataBar Stacked, which can't be read omnidirectionally. Keep the height if it must scan at a fixed checkout.

No, only the GTIN. Use DataBar Expanded Stacked for variable weight, price or date data.
