What is a GS1 DataBar Omni Composite barcode?

This composite pairs a full-height GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional symbol with a 2D Composite Component printed above it. The DataBar part carries the GTIN-14 and scans at a fixed checkout as usual. The 2D part adds Application Identifiers such as an expiry date, batch or serial number.

It is a way to put traceability data on fresh food and small products without changing how the GTIN scans at the till. The 2D part is a MicroPDF417-based CC-A or CC-B component, so it needs an imaging scanner to be read.

What data can GS1 DataBar Omni Composite hold?

(01) and a 14-digit GTIN for the DataBar part, then a | character, then GS1 Application Identifiers in brackets, for example (01)03612345678904|(11)990102.

Recommended size

Keep the DataBar part at full height so it stays omnidirectional, and leave room above it for the 2D block. For a shorter symbol, see the Truncated or Stacked composites.
