What is a GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked barcode?

GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked holds the same Application Identifier data as DataBar Expanded, but breaks the symbol into several rows placed on top of each other. The barcode becomes narrower and taller, which suits narrow fresh-food labels and scale labels.

Each row is made of segments, and the number of segments per row sets the shape: fewer per row makes it narrower and adds rows. It stays readable omnidirectionally by checkout scanners and is also the symbol used for North American coupons.

What data can GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked hold?

GS1 Application Identifiers in brackets, each followed by its data, for example (01)95012345678903(3103)000123. Dates such as (17) must use YYMMDD.

Recommended size

Fit it to the label width and let the rows grow downward. Keep the separators between rows clean and leave clear space around the whole symbol.
