What is a GS1 DataBar Limited barcode?
GS1 DataBar Limited is the smallest single-row member of the DataBar family. It encodes a GTIN-14, but only when the first digit, the indicator digit, is 0 or 1. That restriction is what lets it be so narrow.
It is not readable omnidirectionally by fixed checkout scanners and is designed for handheld or imaging scanners. It is used on small items such as healthcare and medical products. If your GTIN starts with 2 to 9, or the item must scan at a checkout, use DataBar Omnidirectional or one of its stacked forms.
What data can GS1 DataBar Limited hold?
A 13-digit GTIN starting with 0 or 1, optionally with (01) in front. We add the check digit. If you type all 14 digits, we check that the last one is correct.
Recommended size
Use it where both width and height are tight, and keep clear space on both sides. Scan it with a handheld or imaging scanner rather than a fixed checkout scanner.

Frequently Asked Questions
DataBar Limited is built to encode only GTINs with indicator digit 0 or 1, which is how it stays so narrow. Other GTINs need a different DataBar version.
Limited is one short row, while Stacked is two rows and accepts any GTIN-14. Pick whichever shape fits your label.
It isn't designed for omnidirectional checkout scanning. Use DataBar Omnidirectional or Stacked Omnidirectional for that.
