What is a HIBC LIC QR Code barcode?
HIBC LIC QR Code stores Health Industry Bar Code data in a QR Code. HIBCC lists QR Code as one of the 2D carriers for its labeler data, alongside Data Matrix and Aztec.
QR Code needs more space than Data Matrix for the same short HIBC string because of its three finder patterns, but it is read by nearly every 2D imager and by phone camera apps. That can help where staff check products with mobile devices.
Use it when your customers or internal systems ask for QR. For the smallest possible mark, HIBC LIC Data Matrix is usually the better fit, and for linear-only scanners use HIBC LIC 128.
What data can HIBC LIC QR Code hold?
Uppercase letters A-Z, digits 0-9 and the symbols - . space $ / + %. Enter the HIBC data without the leading + sign; the encoder adds the + flag and the modulo 43 check character.
Recommended size
Keep a quiet zone of 4 modules around the code. Print it large enough for the scanning distance you expect, and test with both hospital imagers and phones if both will be used.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is a QR Code, but the content follows the HIBC format with the + flag and check character. Software that expects HIBC data can parse it.
Data Matrix is usually smaller for the same data. Choose QR when a customer requests it or when phones will do the scanning.
Not to an HIBC symbol, because scanners expect only HIBC data. Use a separate QR code if you want to link to instructions.
