What is a HIBC LIC PDF417 barcode?
HIBC LIC PDF417 puts HIBC data into PDF417, a stacked barcode made of several rows. It holds much more than a linear code, so labeler code, product number, lot, expiry and serial fit in one symbol.
PDF417 is wide and low, which suits horizontal label areas such as the side of a carton. Because it is a stacked linear code, many area imagers and some raster-capable laser scanners can read it, which can be useful where Data Matrix support is missing.
Choose HIBC LIC PDF417 when you need a lot of data in a wide space. For tiny labels pick HIBC LIC MicroPDF417 or Data Matrix, and for primary data only a linear HIBC LIC 128 is simpler.
What data can HIBC LIC PDF417 hold?
Uppercase letters A-Z, digits 0-9 and the symbols - . space $ / + %. Enter the HIBC data without the leading + sign; the encoder adds the + flag and the modulo 43 check character.
Recommended size
Leave a quiet zone of at least 2 modules on every side. Keep the row height large enough for your scanners, and test-print to check the symbol fits the label width.
