What is a Australia Post 4-State barcode?
The Australia Post 4-State barcode encodes delivery information for Australian mail using bars in four states. Its data starts with a 2-digit Format Control Code (FCC), followed by an 8-digit Delivery Point Identifier (DPID), and some formats add customer information.
The FCC tells sorting equipment which format is used, such as the standard customer barcode or longer versions with customer information. Reed-Solomon error correction is included in the bars.
The DPID for an address comes from Australia Post's address data, and barcoded mail must meet Australia Post's requirements. The generator encodes the data you supply.
What data can Australia Post 4-State hold?
A Format Control Code and 8-digit DPID, optionally followed by customer information, for example 5956439111ABA 9.
