Stacked barcodes put several short rows of linear bars on top of each other. This fits more data on a small label than one long barcode. They came before today’s 2D codes and were made for small items.

Codablock-F is still used on some healthcare and small product labels, while Code 16K and Code 49 are mostly found in older systems. If you are starting fresh, a 2D code such as Data Matrix or PDF417 usually holds more and scans more easily. Pick a stacked code when your scanner or partner needs one.
